Jess Monaghan

Originally from Aotearoa, New Zealand, Jess is a Melbourne-based improviser, performer and certified delight who has been bringing sharp instincts, grounded characters and joyful energy to the stage since relocating to Australia in 2021.

She has trained and performed extensively with The Improv Conspiracy since 2023, appearing in a range of indie teams as well as the improv duo Big Stuff. Jess has quickly developed a reputation for playful ensemble work, committed character choices and an ability to find the emotional truth in even the most ridiculous scenes.

Now performing with The Big HOO-HAA! Melbourne, Jess is thrilled to be part of one of the city’s longest-running improv comedy institutions, throwing herself headfirst into the glorious unpredictability of live improvised comedy every week.

Offstage, Jess keeps busy cycling around Melbourne, playing netball and tennis, exploring the cafés and beaches of Elwood with her partner, and providing ongoing staff support to their extremely gorgeous cat, Penelope.
