Jon Walpole
Jon Walpole is a Melbourne-based improviser, clown comedian, performer and highly experienced improv teacher known for his elastic physicality, razor-sharp instincts, and commitment to making things gloriously unpredictable.
A former state finalist in RAW Comedy, Jon has been described in reviews as “one of Australia’s most promising comedians” and “the man of a thousand faces” — and, in a much earlier and more authoritative critique, “crazy and freaky” by a Grade 4 classmate.
Jon has trained extensively in improvisation and performance, including with Impro Melbourne and through advanced clown studies at École Philippe Gaulier, one of the world’s most influential physical theatre training institutions. He has also worked within The Big HOO-HAA! training ecosystem, developing performers through structured improv coaching and ensemble work.
His performance work spans sketch, stand-up, improvisation, clowning and music. Jon brings a rare combination of technical improv skill, physical comedy expertise and teaching experience, making him a sought-after facilitator and performer both in Australia and internationally.
