Katie Currie

Katie Currie is an American-born improvisor, comedian, and zoologist.

She began her comedy journey in 2013 as a part of her university improv team, None of the Above. She later joined Secret Recipe; an alternative sketch-comedy night hosted monthly at the University of Colorado. While attending University and obtaining a degree in Creative Writing, Katie taught improv to new students of the Umbrella Improv Initiative.

Eventually she moved away from Boulder, CO to practice being “an Adult”. This practice was short-lived, as a friend and fellow comedian reached out to her and invited her to move across the world to Australia.

Katie started preforming at The Improv Conspiracy in 2019, later going on to join a Harold Night house team, as well as multiple indie teams (Fry Kids, Hedge Lords, etc.). She joined The Big Hoo-Haa! Melbourne in 2021.

Within Australia, she has performed as a part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (‘Cool Show Sixty-Nine’ (Bits Akimbo, 2022), ‘The Nightlight Zone’ (Fry Kids, 2022), ‘Get in the Boot’ (Bits Akimbo 2023)), the Melbourne Fringe Festival (‘The Otherside with Vicky and Dawn’ (2019), ‘The Nightlight Zone’(2022), ‘Cool Show Sixty-Nine’ (2022)), Fringeworld Perth (‘Cool Show Sixty-Nine’ (2023)), and Adelaide Fringe Festival (various spots in multiple line-ups both solo and as a member of sketch comedy group Bits Akimbo(2023)).

She performs weekly with The Big Hoo-Haa! Melbourne, and can often be found at a variety of alternative comedy nights gigging with Bits Akimbo.
