Martine Wengrow

Martine holds an Honours degree in music composition from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, a teaching qualification from the Yamaha Music Foundation, and has studied conducting and musicianship under educators John Hopkins, Dobbs Franks and Tim Smith. She is currently undertaking a Masters of Voice Pedagogy with the London Voice Study Centre/University of Wales Trinity St. David. She works across a highly diverse range of media and performance, including musical theatre, improvised comedy, producing, tertiary education, and television.

Martine’s composition, arranging, orchestration and score preparation work can be heard in the most recent productions of DIVAS (Bernadette Robinson and DUET Productions), The Very Model of a Modern Major Musical (Rapturous Productions), Muriel’s Wedding, The Musical (Global Creatures) and Storeyboard Entertainment’s Australian touring production of Chess. She regularly arranges for such television programs as Dancing With The Stars, Australian Idol, XFactor Australia and Name That Tune for FOX Broadcasting USA.

As a theatre-maker, Martine’s credits include serving as assistant musical director on the nationally touring production of Chess (Storeyboard Entertainment), musical director and arranger for Bernadette Robinson and Richard Carroll’s devised work The Show Goes On (Duet Productions), and associate musical director and chorusmaster for Music Theatre Melbourne’s inaugural production of Paris: A Rock Odyssey. She often plays keyboards in various orchestra pits around Melbourne, and has most recently been involved with 9 to 5 The Musical (XRoads Live), and Cinderella (Opera Australia & XRoads Live).

Martine is a passionate educator and specialises in aural and musicianship studies, and vocal pedagogy. She has taught or musically directed for Victorian College of the Arts, Federation University, Box Hill Institute of TAFE, the Defence Force School of Music, Trinity College at the University of Melbourne, and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
