Phil Andrews

Phil is a Melbourne-based comedian, musician, composer and musical director whose work bridges live comedy, television and improvisational performance. With a background in stand-up, sketch comedy and live music production, he brings a rare combination of comedic instincts and musical precision to The Big HOO-HAA! musical team.

He first emerged through regular appearances on triple j’s Today Today, before going on to perform stand-up and sketch comedy across Australia. His screen and comedy work has included contributions to productions such as Live on Bowen and The Leak.

Alongside comedy, Phil has extensively studied musical composition and live audio production, with a particular focus on live mixing, improvisational accompaniment and collaborative performance. His work in music direction and live production has seen him perform for musical theatre productions and musically direct a range of C31 Melbourne programs.

Now part of The Big HOO-HAA! musical team, Phil helps drive the chaos from his guitar and sound desk alike — underscoring scenes, elevating punchlines and somehow making spontaneous musical comedy look alarmingly professional.
