Meet the HOO-MANS - Jessica Monaghan
Meet Jessica Monaghan one of our many troupe members that have called NZ home!
How’d you get into improv?
Did a few classes here and there in NZ & then did a trial class in Melbourne and loved it & have been doing it since 2023!
What made you want to join the Big HOO-HAA!?
Love the pure silly energy from the mix of games, short and long prov & getting to create musicals!
What do you love most about improvising?
Pure play, silliness and the highs & lows of putting yourself out there! Even if it doesn't work - I enjoy the feeling of being brave.
Were you naturally confident or did improv help you build confidence?
I was confident BUT improv helped me be confident and myself more - so I definitely credit it for that!
What makes an improv scene great?
True listening & hyping up others ideas and suggestions
How would you describe the Big HOO-HAA! in three words?
Silly, BIG, warm!
What's the best thing about improv audiences?
They are very warm and supportive!
How has improv impacted your life beyond the stage?
I feel apart of a community & know so many more funny, creative and lovely people because of improv.
Why do you think audiences connect with improv?
The vulnerability of those on stage making something up as they go & the thrill of feeling apart of the success when players perform- knowing their reactions will be guiding!
